Workplace drug testing

Our team carries out workplace drug testing across the Wellington, Kapiti, Porirua, Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt areas.

Workplace drug testing can decrease your risk of accidents caused by drug and alcohol use. This can be done at pre-employment or randomly.

We use tests that give immediate results – an instant drug test. An onsite drug test gives a negative or non-negative result. It is carried out in accordance with AS/NZ Standard 4308:2008.

We can do tests that that go to an independent laboratory – the results take up to three days for results to come back. An independent drug test provides confirmation of a non-negative result.

All Occupational Health Map nurses are accredited (NZQA 254858 and NZQA 25511) to carry out drug testing.

Drugs tested for are:
  • Amphetamine type substances
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Cannabinoids
  • Cocaine
  • Opiates.

Breath Alcohol testing can be carried out in accordance with AS standard 3547-2000(Type 11).
